Some thoughts:
*I like the idea of having a Fair Play category!
*I really liked Ozzy's score table in the early diplo games. Robert any chance that we can use that again? It gave many interesting points for all kinds of things. Like points for shrines, wonders, first civ to reach certain techs, spreading culture, etc.
*I like Epic Speed, it worked well. If we reduce the game land mass game will will be quicker.
*Also do not forget that we will have the first 100 turns at 8hrs thus speeding the game. That means 3 turns per day, St Jon i saw that you were worried about this guicker timer, well it was implemented to speed the game during the nothing to do first 100 turns. For example, if you need 24 turns to build a worker, well you would have to wait almost a whole month for that to happen, during which you only have maybe a warrior and a scout to move around. The 3 per day turns will speed up the game wheel and get us to the the real game.
*There was too much land last game, i suggest that we have less land. This will result in quicker contacts, diplomacy, conflicts, more dynamics between the civs.
*If you average the city count from last game it comes roughly down to 20 cities per person. This is just too much!!
*10-13 cities is plenty
*Again i would like to point that it would be better for the game to have all civs on one land mass - the result will be an explosion of everything (War,pacts, treaties, diplomacy etc) Civs starting on two seperate continents was a good experiment, still as we all saw it turned all to be pretty boring, only in the later game with modern ships it became more interesting.
