  • Fix for amphibious landing out-of-sync

    Info here:
In 3.17 we introduced a bug that results in players getting out-of-sync when performing an amphibious landing by moving transports directly onto an enemy-occupied tile. Here's how to fix it: In CvSelectionGroup::groupAmphibMove, replace the following code: std::vector aCargoUnits...

Is this something that has happened in any MP games? Should this fix be used? If so, will it make your game incompatible with others?

Yes! The amphibious landing OOS is a huge pain in MP games since the 3.17 patch.

Typical... yet another problem found with the "last official" patch.

While they are providing "one off" fixes, they aren't going to ever release a real final patch that fixes all the known problem so that the MP community can have an official patch that everybody can use.

In most cases, they have left it to the community to clean up their mistakes. I guess we should be happy that in this case, they have supplied a solution, but yet again, no official patch.

We've had to implement silly rules now in the league against direct boating of cities.
I just played a league game where I had to run units along a coastal road to defend a city that was likely to be amphibious-landed or "boated" as they say over at the civplayers MP league. The player who was attempting to follow the rules and land next to my city before attacking ran onto my units fast moving into the city and the game went OOS. Huge pain!!!

There is something going on over here at the MP league in this thread:

3.17 is most likely to be the final official patch; I expect all Alex is doing is what Jesse Smith did with C3C, trying to leave his baby in one piece after marketing screwed around with it.

Yeah... but doesn't it really piss you off as a consumer when a company won't fix their broken product. It's not like they didn't know they released a bad patch as the final product. Within a day, people found SILLY MISTAKES and problems. Some real "good" play testing there. The fans had to create their own fixes, and they did it qucikly. It would have been simple for them just to pick up those and incorporate those and release an official final patch. But NOOOOOOOOOO.... instead, they just ignored their customers. It seems like their thinking was simple... screw the MP community. They were just too cheap and lazy to provide the MP community with an official final patch that actually worked.
