  • Two new players needed for: "Beyond the Pit" - a diplomacy pitboss game

For our 2 months running Pitboss Game (200 BC) "Beyond the Pit" do we need TWO 'subs' (new players).

A diplomacy game is a game where all players try to play their civ in a 'realistic' way. That means that all their in-game actions have reaonable reasons (which can always be made up of course) and post stories about it.

We play 1 turn per 19 hours.
    There are 18 civs participating.

If you're interested we'll give you more detailed info about our game.

    We need a sub for:
    - Russia (maybe only temporarily)
    - Japan

The winner is based on game score (25%) story telling (25%) diplomacy (25%) and military strategy (25%).
The last 3 categories are decided by vote. (monthly vote).

Russia is doing quite good in the score-list, Japan is last. Japan had an island start.

If you're interested, please post here or contact me by PM.

          +1

No offense to Danny or anything, but I find it odd that he just signed up (September 2008) and we JUST had a DL issue with another person. Just putting that out there. Especially considering its actually August 31st today, which must mean he registered today.

                    Hi Danny.P.O.

We are indeed currently looking for new players.
Right now we check if you're not a double login account from a past trouble maker, no worries, that's just to make sure that you're not that person about whom Pitboss Korea talks

                    About our game:

                    - Be aware that this is a diplogame
                    Roughly that means:

                    * create a story for your civ

                    * one of the goals of the game is that everyone enjoys the game till the end: nobody will be destroyed or lose that many cities that there's no fun in the game for him anymore

                    * Backup your actions with stories. Act like your civ is a 'real' civ, thus you must create a background for a war, an alliance.

                    * We communicate through 'anonymous' mail accounts and apolyton accounts. I'll send you the details as soon as you've signed up.

                    * Play your turns, if you can't play a few turns, try to find a sub (ie. one of the other players, an allie, or someone from the other continent)

                    * We vote once per month for 3 categories: Story telling, Diplomacy and Military Strategy.
You can cast 3 votes per category. (best, 2nd best and 3rd best). In total thus 9 votes, ie:

                    diplomacy:
                    1. Zulu
                    2. Canada
                    3. Belgium

                    Diplomacy
                    1. Mexico
                    2. Austsria
                    3. Uganda

                    Military Strategy
                    1. Georgia
                    2. Antartica
                    3. Iraq

It's up to you for whom you want to vote, don't let any "in game" reasons lead you. (ie. an allie) nor game mechanics (ie. he's leading, so let's not vote for him)

Story telling is about story telling.
Diplomacy is: who has achieved his goals best through diplomacy
Military Strategy: who has achieved his goals best through military means (which can also include military pressure without actually engaging in a war)

We send votes to: vote@diplo.plomp.eu from the 1th of the month on, 2 weeks long.
Civs that didn't vote before September 15th can't receive any votes for that month.

There are detailed explanations about how this voting works.

                    There are 2 important rules:
                    - If you're in a war, don't move twice without your enemy moving in between or the new turn having passed for 33%.

(ie. Not allowed: you move last, end your turn, the new turn starts, you move again so that you effectively moved twice while your enemy did not move at all.

allowed: you move, end turn, wait till 33% of the turn is over (about 6,5 hours) and then you move again.

Also allowed: you move, end turn, your enemy moves, you move.

2nd important rule: you're not allowed to trade away more then 15 techs throughout the entire game!
You have to report all tech trades in the tech-trade thread Like this: My civ has traded away 1 tech.
You don't have to mention the civ you traded with or the techs you traded.

You can also trade the right to trade techs.
Ie: you can still trade away 9 techs, Player B can trade away 3 techs, then you can give 1 'voucher' to civ B. After that trade you can trade away 8 techs, Player B can trade away 4 techs.

If you have any questions: post them here.
Ignore the argumentating, it's only about 3 or 4 of us who are debating everything all the time
                    I'm sure it'll settle soon.

I'm not sure if Russia will/can come back, you have to figure it out with him. If he wants his civ back then you'll be the first to get a civ of your own as soon as one comes free.

Thanks a lot and most welcome!

When I wrote that it was still August 31st in the United States because I am in Eastern time and he has a US flag under his name. I am simply advising that we don't just invite anyody in especially someone who signs up for Apolyton and happens to sign up for a diplogame in the exact same day.

we do if they came from outside of poly apparently.

I happy for the Game to wait for russians to return and for the Japanese to go AI though rather than accept someone who we unsure of.

With so much trouble in such a short time. any unusual activity by new people most be taken into account. We dont want friends of you know who taking over a civ and ruining it for everyone else.

Hopefully this new person knows what DIPLO is, is not in any contact with previous Civ leader and the game will go well for next 24 mths

There are no reasons to believe that Danny.P.O is a double login.
Therefor you're very welcome to participate in this game, Danny!

                          Please let us know.

Well, I don't know Cybershy, there are ways to make it look like it isn't a double log-in and I find it extremely odd that he happened to sign up for such an obscure genre like a Diplogame here at Apolyton when, let's face it, its easier to find random games in the internet lobby through Civ IV and there are more people using Civ Fanatics in general. Why here? Why now? I'm sorry if I am being suspicious but this game has gone through enough nonesense.

Ahhh, I think Capo hit it on the head.

It's one of those things where you must ask yourself which is more probable...

That a new Apoly member came directly to this thread as soon as he registered and wants to play in this game... or...

That BlackDragon has found another computer and wants back in for purposes of revenge/deception.

Personally, given Japans status in the game (lack of tech, lack of army) I really wouldn't even care if he came back. First off, I would be able to tell it was him eventually. Secondly, he wouldn't have the power base or skill to ever become a real threat.

I say let Danny play, whoever he may be.
