  • Version mismatch - still playable?

Four friends want to play an online MP Civ game. Three of us have BTS, the other just bought vanilla Civ4. Can we play a group game together, or do we have to have the same version installed?

Presuming the latter, and presuming our friend doesn't fork over the cash for BTS, what's the best way to get on the same version?

There's no way to play different versions.

Your friend either has to buy BtS or you two have to play them in Vanilla Civ, thats' the only solution to your problem.

Capo's right. In order to play BtS, you must already have a copy of Vanilla Civ installed. However, Vanilla Civ doesn't have all the features of BtS. Thus you must all play Vanilla Civ.

To do so, simply put the Vanilla Civ disk into the machine instead of the BtS one. If you each have Civ4Complete, I don't know if it comes with seperate disks, but there should at least be seperate icons to click in Windows.
