Both sides of the 'one turn a day' argument have merit, and neither is wrong.
If you miss a turn, so be it, you miss a turn. No harm, no foul. However, if you miss a week, people start to wonder if you're committed. No big deal, it's just human nature to want to be efficient.
Missing several turns is not the issue here. Lack of warning, and/or lack of apology (so far) is the issue. If something suddenly comes up and you can't play for a week or so, tell someone, anyone, who can pass on the message. I was rushed to hospital a few weeks back, and I obviously had no way to play, and even if I did have my laptop, I had no Internet other than my mobile phone (which may be a better phone than Cyber's, but my call plan is crap and doesn't allow data from any device other than the phone itself). More recently I was on holiday, again with only my phone to provide an Internet connection.
On both occasions, I made sure that people who were relying on me were notified. Is it too much to ask that others do the same when they are unable to play?Ceeforee v0.1 - The Unofficial Civ 4 Editor -= Something no Civ Modder should ever be without =- Last Updated: 27/03/2009

Yes, I fixed my problem... It didn't seem to be affecting the pitboss, and thus any of you, but it did prevent me from connecting to the server from within Civ (the quickest way for me is to connect the same way as everyone else, even though I'm sitting on the same machine).Ceeforee v0.1 - The Unofficial Civ 4 Editor -= Something no Civ Modder should ever be without =- Last Updated: 27/03/2009

agreed a post somewhere would be good jsut to let us know he is alive.
But no need to ever switch someone out.
another bad prolbem of going to ai is if the AI decides to decalre war on someone elsse.
Seeing you cant manipulate how you feel INGAME to other civs the AI may decide to attack an ally or a neighbour for no reason
Not good guys.

If we go AI then Rome will have a problem since the AI gets all kinds of freebees, like very cheap upgrades.
Yelling at me doesn't help either since I'm not the one missing my turns. You're free to yell at me any moment of the day, it's just not going to help anybody.
Of course we're going to have to deal with Russia. But it's not as if I have a red-hot-line with Russia, like Reagan did. I think it's the best right now to wait till he turns up again. When he does we can talk to him.
If he continues to miss that many turns then I suggest we're going to replace him.

I'm sorry I said that stuff about you cybershy, you have done a lot to organize this game. That was out of line and I apologize. I was just irritated in general."Our cause is in the hands of fate. We can not guarantee success. But we can do something better; we can deserve it." -John Adams

PM to Russia:
Hi there,
You haven't been playing your 'Beyond the Pit' turns 6 times in a row already, while you're at war with the Romans.
Please explain what's going on at your side in the org thread. Are you still able to play this game? If you know that you're going to miss some turns, please notify us in advance. Maybe find a sub.
Right now Rome is holding his armies till you return but it's not really an ok situation to stay away that long, particularly when you're in a war. (that you started yourself).
Please drop by in the org thread!

I suggest we make some sort of rule, that a week of non-play without telling anyone means you get subbed until you get back. Please note, I said subbed, not kicked, or banned, or punished. AI is not good, as it doesn't follow queued orders (it follows build queues, but not order queues for indiviual units), plus it gets those freebies (although I didn't think that happened at Noble difficulty). However if a human sub screws up, it's basically your fault for not telling them what you wanted (ie for not arranging the sub yourself).
IIRC wasn't Krill looking for a subbing slot?Ceeforee v0.1 - The Unofficial Civ 4 Editor -= Something no Civ Modder should ever be without =- Last Updated: 27/03/2009
