Beyond the Pit [Pitboss Diplomacy Game] [OOC Chat Thread]

CS, changing people to AI can have devastating effects.
Units that the player may be waiting to use (great people, settlers, etc...) will often be utilized by the AI.
I would say some sort of limit be established. Say, if you miss 4 consecutive turns, the 5th turn goes AI.
Reason being, sometimes people go away for the weekend (like I did the past two weekends). So you will miss a few turns. Do we really expect people to find subs for weekends? Vacation is one thing, but I don't want this to get burdensome.
I don't see a problem with implementing a liberal rule concerning how many turns you can miss before being subjected to the AI... but I wouldn't do it to Rome right now considering we never discussed this prior to him going temporary MIA.
Pinchak, I will only do this for civs that are frequently failing to ie. end their turn, which costs us actually many hours. (not if it only costs us 1 hour or something).
And if players are going to be away for the weekend they should at least tell us about it here.
If people just miss 3 or 4 turns in a row without even forewarning............
But why not search for a sub? Try someone from the other continent.
I think we are very nice to individual people, giving everyone the time to end turns and take their time.
But people should not forget that this is an 18 player game.

I just checked CivStats and it looks like Rome caught himself this time, which is good. Try and make it a habit though Rome, I know you aren't intentionally doing it, but maybe put a post-it on your monitor or something.
I've had to move all of my archers into cities to defend against them, so all of the commodities I had before are lost to me, so no. I think I can hold them off though, and if I can do that and get a road back to my copper I should be able to muster an attack against their cities, but I can't trade for anything right now. I just have to stand up to them at Seoul then I can get my copper back and probably attack them.
