Vpn Tunnel Question 9-24-2007

I have never had a successful MP Game, I allways time out or whomever I am trying to have connect with me times out.

I have tried via Gamespy, no luck with anyone.

So I got a VPN Tunnel and set up a network and the person I am playing can get into the network no problem.

The problem is connecting for an MP Game.

1) Would this be considered a LAN Game?

2) Would this be considered a Direct IP Game?

a] If so would I use the IP that my computer has
-OR-
b] The IP For the VPN?

3) Any other options would be greatly appreciated

I am running Norton and Norton Internet Security. I have a firewall as well.

I tried allowing this persons IP address and had no sucess.

Please if you have a solution, post away.

I think it would be a directIP game.

The IP you would use would be the IP on the VPN (probably 192.168. something or 169.172. something or one of the other 'lan' IPs). The VPN software should tell you the correct IP to use. I don't believe it will be your external IP unless the VPN is using that to indicate your computer somehow.

I'm fairly sure some of the diplo game guys use something like a VPN tunnel, perhaps they can help.

That's Hamachi, which I think is the program the diplogamers use. If that's what you use then that site has some info for what to do.

Then use Hamachi IP adress, it will be a Direct IP game.

Yes you can't use a private IP, use the hamachi 10.xx.xx.xx IP.
