In a recent game, we had the normal "discussion" about settings. "Somebody" was pointing out that the settings we were using were for noobs... and that their way was the only right way...

Like pretty much anything else, it's all a matter of opinion/taste.

When it comes to speed... size map... level... type map... rules... what do you play?

Claiming that someone else's settings are for "noobs" is the mark of a newbie.

If you detest the agreed on settings, complain once. No satisfaction? Then play elsewhere.

Not really. Playing an islands 60 turn game on ancient is a n00b game because it is entirely luck on who wins.

ON the rest I agree though.

I personally always quick speed, with fast turn timer on anc through ren eras, and medium on ind though future eras. Everything is with limited turns, from 120 for anc through to 60 for future (I have not played a future game that alsted more than 40 turns, I've alwasy won them before that time limit).

As for maps that varies, but inland sea and team battle ground are my favourites, with the occasional balanced map.
