pwned. After snoopy died I had a huge empire and peace with everyone else. I started spamming confuscian buildings with Spiral Minaret and the University of Sankore and was really rolling by the time the others gave up.

What a great start on the other night... totally surrounded by ice, even though the opening location did have some food. I knew it would be over quickly when Snoopy put a city right next to the copper that I had moved a settler 11 squares to cover. I should have built right on the copper

And then when I sent my ships out and couldn't get to any place that hadn't already been taken, the screw job was total...


But on another note, I would like to ask this group for their help.

As you all know, BtS will soon be launched, and hopefully, Apolyton will be picking up some new members. One of the big differences between us and CFC is a very active MP community. Many of us are thrilled with the regular games like this one, and the Diplomacy games.

So here is what you can do... We need this place to look more lively as new members start showing up. We would rather keep them then lose them to CFC.

So PLEASE post some MP strategy in this forum... or even the regular strategy forum. Let's help the newbees get involved in MP. We all know that MP is far different to SP, so let's talk about it. Let's get some lively discussions going...

So post away in the general... strategy... and MP forums.

You help would be much appreciated.

The MP forum for IV here is really just a game posting forum. Maybe we should open a MP strat forum. I think it would be a good gathering place and be differenciated from the regular SP strat forum.
I would think we could talk the owners into it.

That is normal for an ice start. Inside the starting tile's fat cross, Arctic and tundra tiles get converted to plains, and freshwater tundra gets converted to grassland, and two or three seafood resources get added.

Of course, everything outside that fat cross really sucks.

Beeline to ironworking, and look for ice-iron.

You actually had iron right near your capital. If you'd settled on the iron, I'd have taken the city pretty much right away... I could've taken it any point in the first ten or fifteen turns of it existing, but I thought i'd be nice and not kill you so quickly

Ice starts are annoying, but it's sometimes tempting to play them as OCC. If we wanted to not have ice starts we could always try a different map type... Inland Sea, or its inverse (i forget the name) both play reasonably well and don't have much ice or other 'bad' starting terrain.
