Connection issues

Hi guys,
Having serious connection problems with any sort of multi player in civ 4 warlords 208.

I know lots of people have problems with firewalls and routers, I have neither, just an adsl modem.

When I try to connect to an "Internet game" I successfully created a gamespy account (verified at their website) but could not log on through civ. It just sits at the log in screen for ever.

When I hosted a direct IP game, either direct or using pitboss my friend cannot connect.

Any Ideas?

Looks like port forwarding was the problem.
Bit of tweeking and we got it working

Great to read that you solved it!
Many ADSL modems do have firewalls and routers inside them! you indeed need to forward ports to get things working!

I would have likely said at first that your account was not valid, unfortunately Civ4/Warlords accounts can not be managed at GS Arcade/IGN network. As the Civ database is not connected to the main player database, despite what the create account dialogue says in game, that is misleading and only there for legal reasons.
