HOTW7 Confessions - Spill Your Secrets!

This is a chance for people to come clean with all the behind the scenes diplomacy that has occurred in this game. This is not only interesting for everyone involved, but could help your final score with people seeing how good a roleplayer you are or how well you made secret deals.

I'll start.

The sabotage against Kuno, was obviously done by me (I didn't hide that very well on purpose). But it was done purely for role playing purposes. I wanted Saddam to be a bit of a bad guy, but I didn't want to start any wars since the game was almost over. So I decided to just do a bit of sabotage against the evil capitalist Chinese.

What people may not have realized (but I hope Kuno did) is that I only targeted mines outside of city borders, and mines that weren't on resources. So it didn't hurt Kuno at all. I just wanted to have some fun, heh.

My next confession is my bombshell. I almost betrayed Toni.

Deity - no doubt in a move of desperation - contacted me about backstabbing Toni and joining him in an alliance. He said he'd convert to Islam and join me in a jihad against all non-Islamic nations - including both of our former allies.

I was quite intrigued since it would definitely spice up the end game, and I've been bitter all game that Toni never converted to Islam like he promised. It is just a shame Deity waited so long to suggest the deal. It would have been much easier to accept if he did it earlier before Toni started his massive build up. Even with Toni's massive build up, I decided to take the decision out of my hands and put it to a vote.

My election for my new leader could have sent my tanks into Bulgaria, but everyone picked wimpy options. Of the four leaders, if Bin Laden had won I would have allied with Deity and attacked Bulgaria on our path to world jihad. No one voted for Bin Laden though, not even Deity I think, haha.

All the other leaders would have stayed loyal to my eternal ally, Toni.

I might think of more things later, but that's all I've got for now.

Thats funny, I had voted for Bin Laden. Obviously, not for that reason however

I wanted an aggressive leader in Arabia so in my mind Bin Laden would have been marching his troops thru Choson territory and Bulgaria and England would be dealing with the repercussions in the North and West. Boy was I wrong, although it would have been fun either way.

There are many many confessions I have to make.
I don't have much time right now, but I think I've promised to backstab everybody to multiple people.
In the end things got that much complicated that I hardly remembered what was going on.

My political system with all those parties was set up to be able to go into any direction I wanted at the end of the game. I didn't want to do things out of the blue, therefor I created the entire political party system, I think that in the end only Ozzy understood what it meant that the EATH, the CHK and the RP allied. (He said "Holy ****" or something when I announced it)

I'll explain more about ancient history, but the idea was that in the late game, the last session, an alliance of Incan, Chinese, Egyptian, Choson and Indian would march against he Arabs and the Bulgarians.
The choson would deal with Arabia, India and China would deal with the Bulgarian and the Incan would deal with the English.

But in the end Frank unfortunately dropped from our game and Deity couldn't make the last session
Egypt contributed much armies to me (as was agreed, she would backup us but not directly get involved.)
I must say that it's a mystery to me why the Chinese never build an army. If you look at the graph you can see how my armies came from the weakest army in the game to the 4th power in only 3 or 4 session!
If China would have made a simular power boost I thinkwe might have been able to actually do something against the Bulgarians together.

Anyway, in the end all of the western alliance dropped from our plan (in which I would even first join the Bulgarians and Arabians and declare war to the western alliance, only to have a 'coalition change' and turn my tanks 180 degrees towards the Bulgarians at the moment the didn't expect it)

But in the end it was just India. I could have let it go and let the game in peace and boringness.
But I decided to try to get the Arabians on my side by provocing the Bulgarians to nuke me and attack me massively.

I destroyed many important mines surrounding the city that build (one of the) last SS parts of Bulgaria, hoping he would nuke me. He didn't do it
Then I invaded Bulgaria, I didn't attack him, but destroyed more mines with my tanks and took many of his workers. Then he nuked me, razed 3 of my most important cities!!!!

But the world still did nothing!
That was really really unexpected.
I must say that I hoped and expected that Ozzy wouldn't let this happen
After all he's a chicken as well :P:P

hehe, I just enjoyed it to shake the last session up a little bit! Unfortunately the big bang of the western alliance against the big powers never happened

Hehe, I wasn't going to bother invading anyone with one turn till my ship launched. That'd just be silly, heh.

Of course I could have struck at the weak underbelly of Bulgaria and easily taken like 5-6 cities in a turn, knock his score down and get myself more points in the long run, but... naw, just too messy.

While revealing secrets, what I want to know is how Ozzy and Toni got one thousand points beyond the rest of us? That difference is quite intimidating to face for weeks on end!

Yeah, I would love to have done this but I decided not to vote for Bin Laden as I thought it a bit unfair on Toni.

To be honest if it was a straight face to face fight with no other help (like CS or the Vikings), ozzy and deity vs me and mike, hmmm not sure your plan would have worked guys. The suprise attack may have worked at 1st, still i kept an close eye on your forces and deitys, one nuke was enough to weaken your forces and turn then to a buffet for me. I just had too many units roughtly 300 total. I know you guys had heli for my tanks, but still not enough to stop 150 strong armour. I even haven't taken in account Mikes forces and my 100 infantry and 70 art. But it would have been what a show. Still Tx deity for being fair and having problems with (IC from OOC)!

That's not fair
It's a game in which a backstabbing attack is still fair OOC, maybe not IC, but OOC everything is possible, if you can back it up with a good story :P

I wanted to tell a bit about my first attack on the Inca, and Levi. There was some talk by Levi about Ozzy and Toni being involved in the whole mess, but that wasnt true. I had told them only after I posted my intentions in the forum. I did ask them at that time to stay neutral, but I wasnt sure how it would all play out until it was over.

I had missed quite a few sessons in a row and when I came back I saw that Levi had really been working his culture in Olly to take over Hastings. Before I missed the sessions, the culture was quite a bit more even. After the fact, Frank came out and said that city was full of Artist's, so my suspicions that Levi was trying to take over my city ended up being true, although I must admit that I didnt care one way or the other once I decided to attack him Levi and I did have a conversation about culture taking over a city in general, but as an ally I thought it was kinda low to go out of his way to take my city, especially when the AI was running me. So I felt justified to a certain extent. I also freely admit to my move being a bit of a "back stab". But it felt so good

The funniest part to me was Kuno/China. He put the idea in my head, asking me privately if I would join him in an attack on Levi. This was a session or two before I did actually attack. After some thought, I agreed. When I came back and told kuno my plans, he backed out claiming he wasnt ready to attack. At this point, I had the money and tech to upgrade my units, but Levi could only see my outdated guys, maybe not fearing them too much. But in one turn, bam! Infantry and cannons and he is in trouble. So who does he turn to? Kuno Kuno got his city back by promising Levi help (the city Levi apparently took from him in a session I missed). Kuno immediately sends me a private message saying "dont worry, I wont actually attack you". We shared a bit of a laugh togather. A turn later, CS/India declares war on me (Im not sure what he got from Levi for that) and he also sent a pm saying he wont really attack me. So the Inca eventaully gave in and became my vassal. But I doubt it was the way Levi thought it was in his head. He was mad at the wrong people and allied with the guy who really orchestrated the idea

Hahaha, totally forgot about that, but it's true!
Kuno and me talked about the whole issue and Kuno revealed how he would try to get his city back, etc.

I wanted to get some more diplomatic impact on all nations, I wanted to steal North Star's monopoly on 'being the world peace leader UN' guy. Thus I decided that falsely giving Levi the idea that I was allied with him might give my peace suggestions a heavier impact on him. So I declared war on England, PM'ed England directly that I didn't really declare war and he didn't had to worry. (man, I didn't got an army at all!!!!!) and started to suck up on the Incas.

And in the end it worked, my "Inca being a vassal of England" was finally accepted, and I think that more nations considered India to be a diplomatic important nation, or at least a peace keeping nation.

It was all setup though.
Maybe it was the most excellent diplomatic backstabbing part of the game with most nations involved.
Kuno was the worst backstabber of course since he even gained back his city!!!!!!
