I have yet to play a MP game of Civ online and so was wondering about a few things:
1) Diplomatic victory. Is this completely left up to the players? I mean, is it possible to win a diplomatic victory only if your opponents are 'fair' and 'like you' and vote for you because they think you deserve to win? In other words, if your adversaries are hell-bent on winning can they totally unrestrictedly vote in a such way as to make sure nobody wins (for example, voting on your best friend defensive pact buddy's competitor)?
2) Defensive pacts. If your pact buddy is attacked, can you choose to simply not come to his aid and instantly declare a peace with the attacker and suffer no penalty of any kind (other than knowing you are probably causing another person somewhere else to get really, really pissed! )?
3) Do people usually a) play to win, b) just play 'to have fun', c) play 'honourably' - keeping their word and aiding their allies or d) something else entirely? What has been your experience?
Thanks for your time.
