  • multiplayer cheating?

    hey everyone,

my friends and i want to play Civ4 on a LAN network but we like to be able to move more then one tile per move so i want to bring up the debug mode. how do do this for a multiplayer game? i press the ~ button but the console doesn't come up?

    what do i do.

    thanx for your help

I suppose the best thing to do would be to edit the game files prior to starting the game up, make a special mod for you and friends to play with, and then make sure everyone has the right mod before you start.

          be careful

I used a single player mod and it screwed me up big time in pbem

I ended up having to uninstall and then reinstall to get clean

So many people cheat it is hardly worth playing multiplayer.

Yes I'd be interested in knowing this too, as I personally have not tested a trainer that works in MP yet. Most cases of "cheating" I've seen in the MP world so far are nothing more than a n00b not understanding how a player could possibly be "that good" :P

How would it be possible to cheat?
Changing the original python files or something?

There is a very easy way to eliminate players from a game. Just tell them that the cheat screen can be accessed by pressing Alt-F4. I had the unfortunate experience of being in a game where several people decided they would try out this piece of advice

Lose it. It means, Go crazy. Nuts. Insane. Bonzo. No longer in possession of one's faculties. Three fries short of a Happy Meal. WACKO!

Doesn't the no cheat option eliminate file mods?
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

The only multiplayer cheat I am aware of is to set yourself to settler level on the setup screen and hope nobody notices. Technically, it is not a cheat, but it is slimy as hell.

Other than that I have not caught anyone cheating using other means.

@Rah: the no cheat options prefents you from opening the world builder by accident.

I never understood why the game host isn't able to change the level at which people play.
