  • Starting ground for MP games

Theres so much talk about MP Civ4 games here that I'm surprised that I cant find any threads looking for people interested in actually playing...

Would anyone be interested in starting up a game and playing a few days a week? Preferably Europeans for ping reasons, but exceptions will of course be made if you have a decent connection.

I'd like to see 7-8 dedicated players that would want to finish a civ game on a standard size map. possibly at quick speed if normal is too slow. Is anyone interested?

    Requirement:
-possibility to play a few hours 2 times a week,
-dedication to finish the game regardless of outcome,
    -basic english skills
-ability to be civilized (razing cities is not uncivilized, its merely aggressive and destructive )

preferably: msn account for easy contact out of civ for planning and such.

Final note. This is just to check for interest. Once we have a few people together, we can start carving out the details. So, who is with me?

The vast majority of MP starting grounds occur over at Apolyton's affiliate - Civ4Players. The ladder address can be found at www.myleague.com/civ4players, and our discussion boards are at civ4players.proboards44.com, if you'd rather just scout things out and talk a bit first.

I'd be interested LzPrst. Unfortunately I think time differences might be an issue.

well, we might be able to work something out.

michigan... is that chicago time? if so then we are 7 hours ahead of you. meaning that in order to get a game going we would have to start in our evening and your morning. say, 10-11 am for you and 5-6pm for us...

it is doable for me, is it for you too? in weekends that is.

if not then it would be very inconvenient as one of us would have to play in the middle of the night.

Actually - I am EST which is New York time. According to Apolyton, as I write this it is 1:15pm here and 6:15pm where you are, which makes us 5 hours apart. That is definitely doable on weekends say noonish my time - 5 pm yours.

            I'm on

If I can figure out a way to play with the Aussies I'm sure we can too

Hey, I was just now trying to instigate a similar game through the civfanatics.com forum. Here is the thread:

I'm starting out a multi-session online game. Schedule: Sessions are from 21:00-23:00 GMT (that's 16:00-18:00 EST), about 3 nights a week. edit: Times are 20:00-22:00 GMT (15:00-17:00 EST). This schedule is meant to satisfy the majority of the Europeans, but of course anybody who can make it is...

LzPrst, let's pool any players we got and make a great game. (I'm on a European time-zone too, BTW)

great. excellent in fact. should we move over to civfanatics? or here? staying at one forum would be the easiest i feel.

of course, writing on both will get us more attention, but looks like we might have pulled in enough people as it is

I suggested on the civfanatics that we start a game on thursday GMT 20:00-22:00. that should get us off to a good start.

specifications are currently unclear, but I think
Normal size archipelago, normal speed (or maybe quick), simoultaneous turns. no AI. preferably somewhere between 6-8 players.
not sure whether tech trading would be allowed.

this should be agreed upon by all before we start. I suggest that everyone check out Furious' linked thread at civfanatics. we have 2 days to work this out and get the game started. lets see some activity!

I can't make that game unfortunately - I'm still at work 4pm my time.
