  • Thread for the final organisation of the USA Sat night diplo-game

I'm just checking the other threads to see who is in this one. Is this correct?

    Saturday Night US/Sunday Afternoon Australia:

    Frank 'Dangime' Johnson - Mongolia
    Deity - Xianbei (Japan)
    Ljube - Russia
    Aussie Lurker - Mali
    Moker - Rome
    77ways - India

Deity Dude & Trev - can't play till next weekend

I'll come back to this post and update it as I find out more detrails....

(Frank, can you help with this organisation stuff, getting everyone in the same pre-game AIM chatroom etc...)

    Map and technical details

    Step One

Download this map and then rename it:

    Ozzy's World.Civ4WorldBuilderSave

THEN put it in your Saves Worldbuilder directory:

    ... \Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Saves\WorldBuilder
    Attached Files

      Step Two

We can only play WITHOUT the v1.09 patch.

If you updated uninstall it or create two Civ4 installations, one without the patch.

After exhaustive testing by several groups, managed by host Mike8472, we concluded that for international MP games the 1.09 patch is cr@p and has screwed the game (slow, inconsistent logins - particularly at Gamespy, etc...)

Mike might care to add to this...

        Step Three

We have to play using Direct IP connection.

Apparently this method requires that all players have correct firewall, router/modem settings.

Mike has helped several players troubleshoot this so maybe from this experience we should create a checklist of things to do.

I'm not the most experienced but this is what I had to do:

HARDWARE - I have a home LAN connected to a router which is connected to an ADSL modem. I needed to use my browser to navigate to the modems port forwarding settings to allow port 2056 to be open for Civ4.

SOFTWARE - I have WinXP SP2 with Windows Firewall. I needed to go in to the Advanced Settings to also allow port 2056 for Civ4 for the ADSL connection

Hi there. Aussie_Lurker here. Please feel free to put me down as either the Arabs or the Mali. I am not too fussed which one (and only if neither are taken). If they are not available, then either England or Spain would be good.
So, I guess my order of preference would be:
              Mali
              Arab
              England
              Spain.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you in the game

              Yours,
              Aussie_Lurker.

sorry I've been AWOL lately - I've been playing alot of civ IV and I honestly don't feel anywhere near ready to start a diplo game - sorry again

I definitely dont want to start something I dont want to finish and I just feel I need to kno more about the game before I make that type of long term commitment

I can edit the map to change around the civs. It would be nice to shake things up again so Epic of Man 2 doesn't have exactly the same civs as EoM 1.

I was going to particpate in this game, but due to work commitments and not being able to make every weekend, i thought it best to only play in one.

I am more then willing to help out if you need a sub or need help setting the game up and getting it working. One diplo game is plenty for me, i have all these other aussie games to organsie.

Only one post in the story thread? For shame...

Ozzy, I'm gonna need a sub for Saturday 10 December. I'd be delighted if you could find the time to play my Russians during the third session.
