  • Password problem in MP

    Greetings,

Is anyone having problems reloading a game with a password on their leader? I'm playing a game with two other human opponents and although they didn't enter a password to protect their leader, I did. After the patch, I'm not able to get in (says I'm entering an incorrect password). I read that the patch did something with encrypting the password. Could this be the culprit? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I'd hate to have to start all over again...

    Peace,
    Jeff

Having the same problem. At first I thought I simply remembered the password wrong, but seems like it is an issue with the update.

Also when I create a new game in multiplayer, it starts at 1580 AD even though the starting age is set to "ancient".

Oh yeah, we had the same starting date issue (not sure if it was exactly the same year though). We noticed the date in the late 1800s AD and it was very early in the game (started a new game because I could not get the password-thing resolved). Maybe it'll be addressed soon...

Ahhh... Apolyton. It's been a while, nice to see it's familiar logo again!

Yeah, been having that password problem as well. As much as it's enjoyable starting games to fine-tune my civ's 'childhood' years, it's getting a bit frustrating, yesyes.

I've tried entering a password, and not entering a password, but every time I try to load up a game, it claims I'm entering an invalid password. Next time, I'm going to try entering the same password as I enter to enter the game from the lobby... doesn't make much sense, but... neither does the bug.

Yeah, also encountered that odd start-date when I started a game at Epic speed. Thought it was part of the game. Tried another game at Marathon and the date was correct. Dunno.

Crossing my fingers for an answer.

I've got the same problem. I've been trying to load an auto save file but it won't work! I know I got the password right but it won't accept it.

It seems to be the Admin pass for the game we started we all dumped the admin pass and went with using only our own.

The password is the admin pass? I don't understand what you're trying to say.

When you start you are asked for the Admin password which we deleted and after we clicked OK then it asked for the player password which we set to what we want.

                  Okay...

Seems you can't change the name of your Civ!

Did a series of trials and that seems to be the culprit.

I didn't experiment enough to know if you're allowed to change other details of your Civ, or the city names... but it definitely brings up a password bug when someone changes the name of their Civ...

So, I can't be Canadian... a little frustrating, but... alas.

The date bug seems to be a separate issue, but when a friend and I were doing a series of tests, the game seemed to start off from the last date we quit our (failed) game... weirdness. Did about 6 tests and each time the date went up, starting from where we last quit... despite being an entirely new game. No suggestion on getting around that, sorry.
