Bug? Chatting in multiplayer games doesn't work good

I was just playing a mp game with some friends.
We tried to voicechat (again) but it hardly works.

We hear each other very softly and distorted.
When we try to chat with each other using skype, ie. there are no problems.
Do other people experience the same problems?

We've tried to raise the volume etc. but nothing worked. The volume got a little bit better (still hardly hearable) but it stays distorted.
