  • Times which changed Jordania:Story 1

I was only a child when the first group of fearless men and women left the security of London for a far and unknown place. They moved to find a new city along with a military escort of two archer groups. It had been some years since those people had first left, and from all reports their city was flourishing. Throughout the past few years, our government had made contact with other “civilized” countries while trying to defend against “The Uncivilized”. Recent explorations had revealed a culture up north which called themselves “The Jordanians”. The Jordanians were experts in defense against The Uncivilized. And two Jordanian Archer groups could take out Uncivilized axmen, because the Jordanians had no copper.
As London became more Populated, the government decided to send another group of fearless men and women to the unknown, but this time, they were going for the strategic ground just south of Jordania, which held several valuable resources. But, the English Military was stretched thin, and only one group of archers could be spared. I, Rovvid, was among these people, yet, I was still young.
We marched all day and camped near the first expansion of our empire. The people there were very warm, and provided us with proof of their successful city. As the morning drew near, the archers mad us get ready to leave, they would not be tardy to their target.
As we came to the site which had been decided upon, the archers immediately rounded up the men to help them build defenses. It had been a week since we had arrived at our new location, and the finishing touches were being added to the magnanimous defenses. It had now been a couple of months, and the city was starting to function, the archers still protected us, as they always had. The city was now flourishing in the desert which the Jordanians called “The desert of Doom”, we were all puzzled at why the Jordanians called this place “The desert of Doom”. However we would soon find out.
One day, while I was playing with friends who lived on the outside of town, we heard screaming and yelling out in the desert. Out of fear, we all ran to the house, and the parents were seized with fear at the news we told them. They ran out, and heard it themselves, soon the entire village, which was on the east side of side of the city, also heard the cries. It had been an hour or so since the cries had first been heard, and the tiny village had become idle with fear. It was now dusk, and, as was my custom, I sat down to dinner at my friend’s house, because I was staying the night. At this time, all the previous shrieks were not heard and had been mostly forgotten. Early the next morning, I was awakened by cries which were coming closer. My friend’s entire family, along with all the villagers were in the village square, looking at a ragged man limping back into the city. A man ran from the crowd to the man and yelled, “Well! Don’t you all help him at once! Go! Make yourselves useful and fetch the poor man some water!” It was the village doctor, who all the people trusted and obeyed.
At this, several people ran to the well to get the man some water. And the doctor inquired the man about his condition.
“What happened to get ya’ in this awful situation, lad?” The doctor asked.
It was like the man was tired, he was gasping for breath, and panting, and the doctor gave him some water and said, “Slowly now son.”
“It was…It was…” that was all the poor man could utter.
    “It was?” asked the doctor.
The man looked up at the doctor, he had a horrified look on his face, but knew he could confide in the doctor. “It was- The Uncivilized”, at this some of the people gasped, some, lost interest and went to their duties, and still others were paralyzed and could not do anything.
“I am an archer in Her majesty, the Queen’s army, my squad, and I, were a recon team for this month, and were doing our activities, and then one day, one man went missing, then another, then another, then one night, they captured the rest of us. They tortured all, and killed all but one, and that unfortunate one was me.”
The doctor could tell that this man’s injuries were more than physical, they were deeper, and more dangerous.
More parts later, got to go develop the game

At this, the Doctor made sure this man was done talking, as he had errands to run, and he said, “Off to your duties with ya’, all of ya’ now!” At this, the townspeople looked at each other, and resumed their meaningless duties.
My friend’s family was present for this, me, about half, my friend’s parents looked at each other, then me, the father then said, “We’re cutting your stay short, off to the city now, quickly now!” was he kept saying to me as I pact. And soon I was in the city, and in my parents’ possession. One of the doctor’s errands was to the city square, and the governor’s palace, which, was not much of a palace at all, but this was beside the point… The man and the Doctor went to both of these, and informed all who needed to know, what had happened. When the news came to the governor, he stood up from his chair in shock. Uncivilized axemen had been spotted near our beloved city, and we believed their intention to be to sack our poor city.
In the hills north of the city, Jordanian Archers had made themselves known, most likely to watch the horrid battle which was sure to come, but they would be of no aid to us.
After all, it was well known that the Jordanian government was “most displeased”(Official Jordanian record) at the “pitiful location of said establishment”(Official Jordanian record), and the Jordanians did not fail to mention this at several talks with the English. However, Her majesty the Queen was resolved in her belief that the land was rightfully English. But as one of the official Jordanian quotes says, “It is more painful for your knee to be bended for you, than to willingly kneel.” Yet the queen laughed at that, which the Jordanians found her humor to be “most ill”(Jordanian Official).
It was a gloomy day the archers left our town to go fight the Uncivilized, and the people who gathered to watch them leave were most quiet, as the men marching were also, a spirit of victory was not with the troops.
The Jordanian campfires were lit above the city, which one of the English veterans said of them, “They(fires) stared at us with mocking tongues.”(Journal of William) William kept a very keen eye on the events and did not fail to write them in his journal.
“As we were marched out, the men around me seemed very fearful, most of them were conscripted men from the city, and those who were not were, new trainees, not yet to have seen the blade of battle. The people around us were also fearful. No one was happy.
However the Jordanians had set up campfires, and they stared at us with mocking tongues. Surely the Jordanians will not come to our aid.
As we set up camp in the open desert, we could see two other camps, the Jordanians, and the Uncivilized, also the city for which we were fighting for was in view, which gave a little hope, hope, but a little, but some is better than none.”(Journal entry from William)
The next day the archers formed ranks and moved into battle, and the Uncivilized were also eager for battle.

Sam was one of the many men in the battle, and recorded it in detail, “The Uncivilized were seen from across the field, and they struck fear into us, they were all large, muscular, and were not groomed well. They charged at us, and we fired 5 volleys before they got with in melee range, a good number of them were shot down, but the impact was not lessened on our lines. One Uncivilized struck with the power of ten men. My friends around me were having trouble with striking down their foes, as for me, I struck one down, then another, and another. I saw one of my friend’s heads chopped off. The battle was gruesome. Soon, the axmen had been absorbed in the middle of our line, each one of us struck the opponent down, and the Uncivilized were separated from each other. Eventually we were victorious, none remained.”(Sam’s Journal)

I remember, I was nervous to see who won, whether our town would be destroyed or not. I looked, I saw, and I was relieved, our archers were returning. But, things were not as good as they looked, 50% of their fellow archers were now dead, 20% wounded. The Jordanian fires were still burning as our archers came back shuffling into our glorious town. All was well, or so we unjustly thought.

It had now been two days since our archer’s victory of the Uncivilized Hordes. The Mocking Jordanian Campfires had ended, and by all accounts, The Jordanian spectators had moved on for other fights.

The next morning we were surprised to see full ranks of Jordanians marching against our hardly defendable city! Two Jordanian Archer groups were advancing, they had already reached the outer suburbs, War was upon us!! Our defenders were seen scrambling around for weapons and other things of use to them, but, they were down strength, and would be no match for the Jordanians.

The midday sun bore down upon both sides until it became unbearable. It was summer, and the sun was making it known. However, the Jordanians kept advancing, and our archers were still rushing to build last minute defenses.

It was about two o’clock when the Jordanian and English lines joined in battle. At first, our line was holding, the Jordanians were kept outside! But as the day turned to evening, the battle went ill. The Jordanians broke a hole in the west side, and the commanders of our forces overcompensated. More lines were broken, and Jordanian troops started to advance into the city.
When our Archers saw that the Jordanians had advanced into the city, and there would no longer be any defense, some fled into the city, donning civilian clothing, others stood and died, and yet some fled into the desert, were they would meet their doom soon enough.
It was now the next morning, and the Jordanians had gotten their orders, “Destroy the city, and leave no evidence of its pitiful existence.” (Jordanian commander) They then proceeded to fulfill the orders. At about five o’clock that day, all who were not killed had fled, like me, my parents were not so privileged. That day, the Jordanians had not only destroyed and sacked a city, they had started a type of behavior that would last for several centuries, until the English made their last stand later at Coventry, but alas that is another story…

Don't be afraid to double space paragraphs.

                  Broken up reads better

                  Than if it is
                  scrunched together

                  Like the story though
