  • confused about AU games

OK tried to read through the AU introduction threads but was a little confused..what exactly is a During Action Report..how often am I supposed to post one if I participate and is there a limit on when I can start and how long the game runs for? (for example I wouldn't want to start if everyone else was already done and I want to finish it in time for others to comment..) I've never done one of these before so any help would be appreciated thanks!

Well, on this particular DAR, on those eras in which I was not at war, I posted at the end of that timeframe described by that DAR.

Now when I was at war, it took so much longer each turn, and so I reported more frequently than that, and broke that era into 3 postings. [pre-war / early war / late war]

It just so happened that the war ended the same turn I advanced an era, so there was no sepreate post war report in that thread.

You'll also be the only one playing AU-100 from start with Version 152, but don't worry about it, it might even shead light into AI tweaks that took place.

Ah so only one or three Dar postings for each era ok interesting. How much detail did you go into in each one..for example did you include tiles worked in each city? What you built and when?

I'm a big micromanager myself, come from playing AC I guess..

Well, Scouts are the best units you have against animals, especally if they are under defensive cover (woods or hills or on the other side of a river)

As for settlers / workers being eaten, never have unescorted settlers outside your culture boundary for more than a turn [with 2 MPs you shouldn't need to] and always keep unescorted workers inside your culture boundary.

Animals get auto-expelled from your territory if you found a city that brings it within your cultural boundary.

Good day, everybody.I don´t know if it is here the right place to post(if not a moderator feel free to delete my post and forgive me).
I am very interested in the AU games.I have some experience with CIV games, but I know nothing of computers and communications, and english is just my 4th language.
So,please be kind to the questions of an ignorant:
a)what must I do to get the AU game(yes,I read it,but...is it just to click in the link, then choose the save option, and after to look for it in the CIVIV folder)?
b)is there some time fixed for playing it?Am I still on time to begin playing the first, and,it seems, the only one,so far?
c)is it necessary to do some kind of "inscription"to the game?
d)if it is necessary to send screenshots, someone, please, can teach how to do it.
            My thanks in advance.
            Best regards,

              a) There are instuctions in the download thread. Otherwise I wouldn't have known how to do it either.

              b) you can play it whenever you want (even a year from now, if you like). Many people have finished it already, but others are part-way through.

              c) inscription? Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean.

              d) screenshots are not necessary, but they're a nice addition. There are three steps to this process:

              1) Hit ctrl+prnscrn while playing. You will get a popup in the game to name the screenshot and it will be saved in your screenshots folder.

              2) Logon to Apolyton and click on the "upload" link. Follow the instructions to upload the screenshots. Then "view" them and copy the URL link.

              3) While creating your "DAR" post, you can paste the URL link into the post, like this:

This is a screenshot from CivIII, obviously - all of my CivIV screenshots are from AU100, and I didn't want to spoil that for you.

I tend use the link for the "shrinked version of the image (800 pixels wide)." You will see 4 different options for the size of the screenshot to post - there are small thumbnail sized ones and a full-sized one bigger than the one I posted.

              I hope this helps.

                Thanks,Arrian.
From your answer to b),I guess the answer to c)is negative(I tryed to ask about some license or previous advice of the intention of joining the AU).
                Best regards,

                  hmm...

it may be time to start AU-200... would be nice for a new map we can all fight at (of course, at a higher difficulty level)...

I am now ready to post in AU100-a DAR1 and I got the screenshot in my saves folder.
Arrian,in his post of 05-12-30,kindly told me of the necessary three steps.Well,I was able to do the first. Then I connected to Aplyton´site(where I am now)but I couldn´t find the upload link...
Sorry. Is this "logon"thing to be connected to the site?
Terribly sorry for disturbing you,but please can you tell me what to do now.
                    My thanks in advance.
                    Best regards,

                      hey,

when you go to post a meassage, look below the area where you type. below the 'options' label, there's an 'attach file' label. and in that box, there's a link to the Upload Service. upload there, grab a linky, and paste it in the msg.

Thanks,MadDjinn. For the first time I saw "copy"and "paste";and the program tried to do the attachment, but told it was a invalid file.Surely,I made something wrong while creating the screenshot.
                        Next time...
