I'm playing through this one. My game has been truly bizzare.
I start out with one of my house specials - Fuedalism slingshot. Except through a stroke of luck I popped Myst from a hut (while I was researching it), picked Polytheism because I intended to get Monotheism at some point. Well Buddhism went quickly, but I got Hinduism.
SO far I'm the ONLY one I've met with a religion. I've converted 6 civs to Hindusim so far - with passive spread alone.
Tokugawa warrior rushed me, but that didn't amount to much. Then Genghis chose to be violated by my improbably early vassalage Longbows. After a while of fighting with Genghis where I lost only one unit (and took one city), I declared peace.
I only have 3 cites atm (but am #3), I plan to get some wars incited or let them start, then jump on in and pick up some cities. Genghis is dead last thanks to his war of aggression. Toku would probably also make a good victim, and I'm eyeing Monties holdings - a couple of his cities might flip to me too.
in 340AD my Hindu shrine is mkaing 17/turn. There's no way I can get my spending below 100%. Tech trading is very easy with all my religious allys and my starting tech lead, combined with 100% research.
What I want is a reliable snivelling minion, and I'm thinking Alexander. I really can't trust Monty and Tokugawa is too aloof. Genghis might be a posibility but I think he's too weak and will just get stomped. So Alex will probably be my sidekick - oh and I get the H.Rule bonus with him, along with HC. With everyone having the hindu bonus, I might try to arrange it has H.Rulers vs others.
ALl the friendships is going to be a problem actually. I might just build up a large army with my shrine income then wait for one of the boys to get frisky.
I suspect that my lucky founding of hinduism has gone broke the darned challenge. Or at least warped it beyond recognition.
