Alternately (having just checked my computer), you could right click the shortcut on the menu bar and choose "run as administrator" that way.

Try right clicking the executable (civiv.exe or somesuch); and select properties. There should be a "run as administrator" option.

Purchased CIV 4 complete last year. Completed install, hit play and got the message "Must have administrator privileges, sign on as administrator. I was signed on as the admin.
Purchased CIV 4 Game of year edition, completed install, hit play and same thing. What's up?
