In my last game, I gave it a shot, and completely dominated.

As long as your neighbors aren't the Mayans or the Zulus, they can be quite effective.

You can get conquest with HA if you want, and get a decent map, Keshiks aren't that much better, but they are, so...

I agree... After trying my first Keshiks rush, and being very successful, it made me respect HA's so much more for a possible early rush. Yeah, Keshiks get the movement advantage, but if their is open terrain...

I remember one MP game where I started as the mongols and had really crappy terrain while my neighbor had great terrain. He got to gunpowder quite quickly and felt quite secure with three mustkets in each border city. Or at least he did until I decimated his empire with a stack of 20 Kelshiks. He didn't react right away thinking they couldn't take his muskets but the ignore terrain movement penalties allowed me to blitz him before he could get more defenses in place.
