    Ming,

    Thanks for the second post.

Thoughts on Colonies affecting the research rate?

      Both prereqs for what?

Do you mean if more civs have the prereqs researched? or were you thinking of a specific tech?
If you haven't already figured this out from the more recent posts.

For animal husbandry, there are two pre-reqs. Hunting and agriculture.
You have to have at least one before you can research AH, but if you have both, AH is cheaper to research.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

As a note to the above two posts from CFC, it is noted later in the thread that there were a few mistakes in the formulas... but the basic information is great stuff.

It does address the question of whether to kill off a civ or not.
        Keep on Civin'

Got it. You used prereqs ambiguously, not saying required or optional prereqs.

Also, you said 'both,' technologies can have anywhere between zero and three prereqs.

Perhaps this is a more concise summary:
You receive a 20% bonus to research a technology for each optional prerequisite you already know.

So, you agree with my conclusion that you keep civs around until you have researched the techs they know, then you kill them off. Preferably the very turn you research the last tech they had...

This also points out that it's critical that you explore as much as you can as early as you can. You want to meet as many civs as possible as soon as you can.

It sure seems that way based on the information. However, in some cases, you may have happiness issues (motherland unhappiness) and it might be better off to just eliminate them faster.

                  Motherland issues...heh...

I am talking about timing the final blow with the research of their last tech. Not standing around outside the walls of their city for multiple turns waiting for that last tech. I mean beginning to backfill while in the war...or is that a bad idea?
