  • Civ 4 default map sizes and getting bigger maps

    Hi everyone, I have Civ 4 and all extensions installed and I'm playing BtS mainly.

    I would like to know the default map sizes with the following informations;

    - Map name
    - Map width
    - Map height
    - Tiles available

    And what I would like to know, is there a mod out there for my config (all extensions + BtS) that would let me create bigger maps than the bigger one already availaible by default?

    Thanks

    Careful... bigger will result in expontentially greater number of units and other elements which will increase incidence of game crash especially toward the end of games (when the AIs have a lot of units running around).

      If you have less than 2 GB RAM, the earth 18 civs map that is a choice from "play now" will overwhelm your machine somewhere between riflemen and railroad. Wouldn't even recommend huge w/o the 2 gigs for avoiding late play difficulties.

      Note that at Monarch and above, the difficulty in winning is increased greatly by larger maps and more civs, especially any win but cultural, space, diplomatic, and time. Worth thinking about.

        Check out the PerfectWorld2 mapscript thread. Its sizes are larger than the standard sizes.

        Also, I understand that the Terra maps are larger, because all the civs start in the old world.
