  • XML editor to edit Civ 4 files

I'm looking for a user-friendly editor that would let me edit wonders, units, buildings etc. from the game.

Something that would let me change the purpose of an item, in the case of a wonder, change his benefits, in the case of a unit too.

A small app that would let me remove or add things in the game, ex.: removing a wonder and add another one.

An app that would take care of everything, with no errors ... is this exists?

    Notepad.

If you're looking for a true XML editor that will perform syntax checking, that's an entirely different ball of wax. Frankly, I would recommend against it, myself. Notepad does fine.

While notepad will do it, Notepad ++ (http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm) does it better (i.e., not nearly so much eyestrain is involved).

If you need more than enhanced notepad (Jaybe's thing), then you should have access to some good XML editors already. Watch your formats as the game gets weird in a hurry, and the only "fix" may be a complete reload. That's why text editors work better for playing purposes. Note also that the built-in worldbuilder will let you play heavily with any existing game. Remember to save first before following that path.

Do you live in the midwest? I'm from Iowa so you caught my eye when you said tractors.
