  • The Parthenon is missing!

    Hi everybody!

I have run into an annoying problem, I hope some of you can help me ...

I just got my hands on Aesthetics, and since I was the first to get Poly., I wanted to build The Parthenon ASAP. Not only because I play the Greeks, but more importantly because I play a specialists strategy - and I am even gifted with marble.

The mystery is: I have looked into all of my cities, and none of them are allowed/able to build the wonder It doesn´t even figure in the city screen. Sometimes wonders do but are grayed out for obvious reasons.

For the record: I play the Mac version of BTS with espionage turned off.

Good advise will be much appreciated

You probably don't have Polytheism. You need that tech also to build the Parthenon.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Are you sure you have polytheism not meditation?

Parthenon requires both Polytheism and Aesthetics in BTS. If you have both, and still can't build it, check F9 to see if an unmet civ has already built it.

If neither of those conditions apply

      A save might be helpful.

Or it has already been built. Check the 5 largest cities/Wonders screen to see who did build it.

OOPS! Thoth already covered the F9 check.

            How right you are

I should have checked the F9 key first, but I have a habit of always writing down when one of my foes finish a Wonder, and The Parthenon wasn´t on the list. I must have taken a nap, when Pacal took The Parthenon and put it in his capitol

Good for him, but bad for him that he is my irritating neighbor, and I already have gunpowder units against his puny archers and axemen - and I can even see the Wonder from my border towns ...

So no more sleepwalking, it is time for some armed robbery

PS. And for some of you who may not know it: You cannot build The Parthenon at all, if you have chosen a "late start" game.

I suspect you can't build wonders that are already obsolete. Haven't checked though, since I always start early.
