  • PolyCast Episode 79: "One of the Crazy Ones"

Admitting the fact is always the first step. The seventy-ninth episode of PolyCast is now netcasting. "One of the Crazy Ones" features regular co-host Daniel "DanQ" Quick with returning guest co-host James Robertson and first-time guest co-hosts "Badtz Maru" and "Silu".

PolyCast is a bi-weekly audio production in an ongoing effort to give the Civ community an interactive voice on game strategy. Nominate the show in the "Best Produced" and "Gaming" categories for the 2009 Podcast Awards; sibling show ModCast focuses on Civ modding and RevCast focuses on Civilization: Revolution.

The hosting is so bad it is almost impossible to listen to it. Even pausing it for five minutes hoping it will preload doesn't work. The sound is just so jumpy. Stopping and going... Stopping and going...

Easiest solution is of course just to download the file when it gets like that... though the hosting probably needs to be looked into.

This is the first I have heard of there being difficulties with people accessing the PolyCast website in some time (in excess of a year, at least). Were you experiencing any access difficulties on the site otherwise? As "emperor" suggested, downloading the episode in full as opposed to streaming it (through the 'Stream...' text link or the built-in player) is an option.

Try again; if the problem persists, by all means follow-up. We could then go through a couple of quick tests to better isolate where the difficulty with the connection was/is lying.

While you're hear edit you post stickied at the top of this forum. It still links to patch v3.17 when patch v3.29 has been released for BtS.

I presume you mean patch v3.19. If there is a v3.29, this is certainly the first I've heard of it.

While this podcast's release date was Monday the 12th, my iTunes sub refused to download it until the following day due to connection problemoes. That may have related to Oerdin's troubles; perhaps he should just have waited a few hours.

                It happens sometimes.

Er... Yeah, that was a typo. V3.19.

Oh, and the server seems to be working now though someone needs to make poly cast more structured then it currently is. Right now it just sort of rambles along without anyone outlining where it is going to go or what topics will be discussed.

On the PolyCast website, the order of the segments included in each production are listed as are their start times. (For PC Season 1, forum posts with this data are linked to.) Within each of these listings, the topic(s) discussed with each segment is/are presented in order and linked to where applicable.

In the episode themselves, a summary following the introduction is included that outlines the order of the segments, and the topics within each segment.
