I was just curious. Is this game not discussed on this forum? My brother just gave me a copy of the game, and it looks pretty neat. At the same time, I've got a lot of questions.
Seriously. My brother was going on and on about how cool Civ 3 was, but I come here and there's a forum for Civ4, and one for Civ 2. Nothin for Civ 3. I'm going to have to tease him about this.
Civ3 looked nice, but execution was horrible. Well maybe not that bad. But EVERYONE is happier with civ4, especially BtS.
I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned
The best thing you can do with a Civ 3 cd is to put it in the microwave and set the microwave to "high". The disk will produce pretty looking sparks and flashes. This is more entertainment than you will get from actually playing Civ 3.

I thought we're trying to have a serious discussion? It says serious in the thread title!- Al. B. Sure
When a game is not playable till the final release, yes, I consider it that bad. By then most of the players had given up on it. The fact that we continued playing CIV II for MP should be the biggest proof how bad III was.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

The so called "final release" still had bugs even after Firaxis gave up patching it. Their performance on C3C was a major factor in my non-purchase of BTS until *after* the 3.17 patch.
The best thing I can say about Civ3 is that it wasn't as bad as MOO3, and that ain't saying much.

There is a forum for Civ3 here. It's listed farther down in the 'Classic Games' section.
That's actually the best compliment I've heard yet about it.
