Hey, at least I can certainly say I've been felling better now that I'm "there". Seriously though, it's less stressful and even pleasant at times. I was just very amused by the extent to which Ming's comments here mirror my own thoughts!

It's not like I made any vows not to post here or somesuch, you know If there's some interesting game-related news here again, I may well be posting. It's a lull period anyway in the Civ community, the Civ4 series has seen its final releases, there's no word on a potential Civ5, and there's nothing "Civ-like" (GalCiv, etc.) coming out soon either.

I wish all Civ Sites well... Civ is a great game, one that I've played more than almost all others combined. The Civ community is one I've been a member of since the very begining, across multiple sites. It was always a sad day when one would disappear.

But it doesn't change my opinion that I think that "some" of the Admin at your site had some delusions on how easy it would be to form a real new community. And in the process of creating a new community, kind of hoping it would diminish this one by "stealing" our community away. Thank the gods, they were sadly mistaken.

This part is completely untrue. We did not, and do not, have the goal of diminishing this community. We aren't even a place where much of Apolyton's community would likely want to be and we're not pretending otherwise. Besides, it's not at all a zero-sum game, joining a community doesn't mean you have to leave all other ones

Five months later, I can honestly say I am quite satisfied. I feel good at WPC, we have fairly constant traffic numbers and, more importantly to me, we actually have some gaming-related stuff happening. I'm not complaining.

I guess I should be glad your age is catching up to you, as I can remember at least two distinct occasions when I did exactly that

I do wish Apolyton well, the site just has a different focus to what I'm looking for in the community. Since no other site could cater for that, I joined others who felt similar.
