I have downloaded Civ 4 gold, but it takes like 20 minutes to load the initial game with all of the civs. It is almost impossible to get a normal civ in one of your games like Russia.Comment

sciguy, i generally just load the mod from BtS menu and then go off and leave it to load (around 20 mins yeah), come back and dont have any problems from there on... why is it impossible to get a normal civ? you mean because of random choice of opponents?Comment

Exactly. It takes so long to load not because of the number of civs, but because all they are modular.
I've just taken only some of the civs from Civ Gold to play in my games.aka Lone Wolf, aka LoneWolfEburg.
In the childhood we shared, all the schoolbooks would dot the same i's,

Call me Lone Wolf.
"Modular" means that they are not coded in a single file, but each civ has its own set of files. This is done to help people include only some Gold civs in their mods.aka Lone Wolf, aka LoneWolfEburg.

Ahhhh, ok, well at least 2/3s of those extra civs I wouldnt think of using anyway, how do you select which ones to load? Just delete the civs file?Comment
