It would be good if some value could be salvaged from the outlay on it. Not that I know of though.

Colonization turn out to not be good? A disappointment, as it were?

Alas, yes, colonization kind of sucked. I had a lot of fun until i realized the game was a bit flawed, hence the firaxis mod competition. There are some very bizzare mechanics with "liberty bells" that really confuse things.

I'm sure one could get into modding and somehow do a crossover after extracting the models from col2, but i'm not sure how.

I would like to see specialists in civ more follow the col system, however, I like that system a lot more. (even though the col. economy is 100% specialist)

BAT 1.1 says it uses some of the Civ4Col terrains, oceans I believe, maybe more.

The Wolfshanze Mod uses some of the leaderheads to add new leaders to CIV.

Someone's also ported over the Marsh terrain into Civ, along with the Colonization graphics for all the rest of the terrain types. Personally I didn't like them, I much prefer the Civ graphics. Colonization reminds me too much of an oil painting, one of the old fashioned kind.

Yeah... try looking at the Wolfshanze Mod... the new version coming-out soon will use a considerable helping of Colonization graphics (mostly LH and/or Colonization LH derivatives).
Wolfshanze Mod: for BtS... adds "flavored Civs", coal-fired navies, WWI units, plus Poland, Austria & Vietnam to Civ4!
