  • Aggressive AI

I played about 20 game sessions at warlord level.
I selected the option Aggressive AI.
    Version 3.17 loaded BTS

I NEVER had an attack by enemy units (except barbarians units).
In any case the other civilizations declared war to me.
The war was possible only in the case I declared first.

    Is it normal?

I remember in Civ2 and Civ3 often events of sneak attack, and It was difficult to keep secure the borders.

On Warlord level this is pretty normal. It's pretty much a sandbox level where the only reason for the AI existing is to make the world more diverse when you go conquering.

Jump to Noble if you want the AI to play. On that level neither the player nor the AI is handicapped. (The ai has a few advantages in a few domains to make up for AI weaknesses but therefore the player gets other advantages but it pretty much evens out.)

If you want it to play well then prince or monarch. Above that it gets ridicules. (Personally I already consider monarch to be that.)

      Thank you Ben,

      I'll try noble level.

It seemed to me a strange behavior cause in Civ 3, at warlord level I had an AI quite aggressive...

In Civ IV, particularly starting with the "improved AI" mod for Warlords & Vanilla that was largely incorporated into base BTS, the AI weights the comparable military strength a whole lot more than prior versions of Civ.

          Tried Noble level.
Exactly as you Guys said, the wind is changed and game is now challenging.
