  • Something new or did I just miss it before?

In the last games I've played I noticed that my Drill 1 units were eligible for Medic 1 after that. I seem to recall that the Medic 1 promotion was only available to units that had Combat 1 before, or is that just my imagination playing tricks on me? Was that a change in the last patch? If so, I'm glad they did it.

I think it's new to the last patch but it could have been the one immedately prior to that one which opened the anti-unit type promotions to Drill I.

Ah good, I'd hate to think I was just being totally blind. I like it frankly. I like having at least one reserve Archer/Longbowman in my cities and I used to be torn between the Drill line and Combat 1/Medic 1. Now I can combine the two. It's also good for my Machine Guns as well, since I had to make the same decision with them.

It might well have been introduced with the siege units becoming unable to promote along the combat line (again, 3.13 or .17). That's when I first noticed it, still being able to medic my artillery or MG units.

Good idea for MG units, as they are defensive seige units anyway.

Also for Archers/Longbowman used as backup defenders. Even Crossbowmen for that matter.
