I wish I had some screenshots, but the one I took didn't save, and I was a bit to hasty getting rid of the autosaves. The autosave thing is also why the game is stuck with advanced start, I had hoped to fix that, but you're stuck, unless you really want to go in to the world builder and fix every civs techs and units.
Anyway, bizarre, bizarre game. Early metals are scarce to say the least. But more interestingly, the AI completely forgot how to tech. I realize it's only Noble, and an advanced start, but I always play those settings, and don't normally get anywhere near the tech lead I got in this game. I ended up grabbing Plastics with Liberalism. The sick part is, that was just because I was lazy. I had a large infantry/fighter army and about 8 transports. If I had bothered to invade the other continent, (which most likely had longbows and knights, maybe muskets.) I could have won the game before any other AI got liberalism, thereby demonstrating it is theoretically possible to get Future Tech X, where X is the largest number Civ 4 will allow there, with Liberalism.
Map is big and small, huge. I was Catherine of the Russians. 3.17, no Solver's patch. Next War mod. Play it if:
You want to do what I was to lazy to do, and win before Liberalism is first discovered. (I suppose this has been done anyway, but has it been done with infantry?)
You want an easy, relaxing game.
You want to try a new strategy/ difficulty, and want a map that won't punish you for mistakes.
