Sometimes, especially before when I had time to play Civ like >6 hours in a row, I think I can save and reload if things don't work out as intended.

Real-life "redos" are a dream of many of us. "Oops, let's reload and start that again," can work once in a while in real life, but the other person will get tired of that long before the machine will. Oh, well.No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai

Actually, since i play from my childhood on, i got very insecure in real life, just because i miss the load/save feature in it. I know... TMI again...
I actually once wrote a school paper where I used the lessons learnt from pollution in Civ (II I think) and how it became more and more and issue after industrialization. Got a good grade on it too!

Also, in RL, explosions hurt, bullets kill real people, fires burn other people's valuables, and children get lost in war zones, mothers cry. Still no restart button, so only solution is to never start. Appears the Georgians forgot that recently; now their whole army is gone. Only the equivalent of a UN-ordered ceasefire saved them from rejoining the Russian empire. (Of course, in RL the UN had nothing to do with it, but in RL it can't inflict unhappiness on resolution defiers either.)No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai

Some callers to the radio talk shows apparently were very concerned that the US hadn't responded more emphatically to an invasion by the Russians. They said they had relatives in the Atlanta area and were very concerned when they heard the Russians were driving on the capitol. No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai

Apparently, some folks are not as well informed as we might wish. And these people vote.No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai

Miss Teen South Carolina Pretty much sums up everything about the Southern half of the US's education system for anyone under a certain age (30 I would say) that lives in that part of the country.First Master, Banan-Abbot of the Nana-stary, and Arch-Nan of the Order of the Sacred Banana.
Marathon, the reason my friends and I have been playing the same hotseat game since 2006...

Actually, since the heydays of the Mongolians and the Vikings (and then the Third Reich), Russia has this tradition of territorial paranoia. Understandable, considering the trauma incurred. Russians are VERY traditional in their mindsets, and slow to change in that regard.

I think Russia is more like trying to prevent a US-domination victory, the E.U., Japan, Australia, South America (except Venezuela) being vassals pretty much. Whats left is Arabia (just lost two cities, forming a new vassal Civ of the US), India, China and Russia. But the US probably meets the landmass-percentage required for DV already...
Well, but as said, civ isnt really a real life analogy. So none of this should be taken as some kind of seriuous analisys.
But it brings me to an idea: Maybe another victory option, that could be called economic victory, should be, when a civ (including its vassals) holds every single ressource of oil, for a certain amount of turns, before some tech, that makes oil obsolete, is researched.

Unimatrix11, it sound like you wish to play Rhye's and Fall of Civilizations. The condition for USA's victory is exactly control over most of the world's oil. (means conquer middle east pretty much)
As to Russia, it is interesting how it is OK for USA to attach Yugoslavia and not OK for Russia to attack Georgia under virtually identical circumstances. That is why I believe Propaganda should be implemented in Civ, it is missing right now and it is important part of human civilization.
