I think I might need help. I'm constantly starting a new game in the Earth 18 civs scenario. I'm constantly thinking of a new strategy with a new civ to build an even bigger and better empire. I never finish a game. I almost always start in Asia or Europe.
Yesterday I started as Elizabeth on Epic (my usual speed) and Monarch. I must admit I used the worldbuilder to get rid of the French right from the start, so I am rather lame as usual. When I quit playing I was comfortably ahead in tech (haven't made contact with India or China though) in mid Classical era, with the Pyramids and Great Lighthouse and working on The Great Library (in London which is going to be a GP farm and super science city) and the Colossus. And I managed to be the first to settle way up north in Scandinavia, where Sweden meets Finland. There's a nice production city there, and England's only chance for copper. So I have 5 cities, one in Scotland, one in Ireland and two in Scandinavia, and of course London. I don't think there's a chance for me to secure the 8 city minimum for Oxford University and all that, unless I beeline Astronomy and settle South America, with all its grassland rivers. Could have some nice production cities there by the start of the Industrial era perhaps. Or I could also beeline some good military tech and annex Europe, since I have a tech lead.
The thing is, I've done this before. I should have tried it now on Emperor, since I seem to have a strong lead. But now I'm thinking I'll start a new game as the Romans. I haven't played them since I got BtS and I see that Julius is now ORG/IMP which is very interesting, and suits my greed for a huge empire through conquest perfectly. Man, why didn't I think of this before? With the 50% increased production for settlers, I'll easily manage to secure a few cities in Europe, where there is always such competition for land. And then with my Praetorians and twice the number of Great Generals, I should easily conquer the European mainland and then be ready to take on Russia. And being Organized will make this huge empire flourish! I have to try it right away!!
But obviously I need help.
