I only reload if I make a stupid mistake like misclicking somewhere. Beyond that i'll fight out a situation until i've passed the point where I can't come back, then i'll start a new game. Occasionally i'll stick around beyond that point, just to see if the civ follows through. Usually they do, heh.

Anyone ever request a vassal condition for themselves in order to survive when things have gone to h**l? I never have, but would be curious how difficult it would be to recover, then reemerge in such a case.

IIRC, I read somewhere in relation to Civ IV that if you capitulate, you might just as well resign. You won't be in a position to win again.

I never have - would be interesting to try I suppose, but I would find it very hard to
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

I didn't think you can become a vassal as a SP ... did that change at some point?

I voted fight to the end, but in actuality, if it gets to where I don't have a chance to win, I quit. This, though usually happens when the final onslaught is heading to my capital. I guess I just can't watch myself be destroyed. This has only happened a few times, and not lately. I have lost, but very rarely to the point of destruction.
I do seem to recall that I was once offered capitulation, but I won't swear to it. That was a long time ago.

Interesting, I assumed they were talking about MP, while Snoopy assumed they were talking about SP.

I assume this based on most of the folks here being SP players

I did mean capitulation in an SP game, to one of the AI. I've never done it, perhaps it is not possible. I was just curious; this group of commenters represent the cream of the grognards with many more games per capita than any place else on the web.
