    I don't think so. I've had games where I was the largest civ in the world but my military was spread fairly thin and I still was attacked by civs that were normally peaceful, more or less. I'm pretty sure it's all about power in Civ 4.

      Just tossing an idea out - if you want to get better at city defense (as opposed to the larger problem of defending your entire civ), then the answer is practice

        Actually, the way I did it was to play the Genghis Khan scenario in Warlords... as counter intuitive as it seems. Play that game and keep all of your cities, on deity level (it's not really that hard as all that) - that makes city defense very interesting

          Yes, one of the only scnearios that I really played and enjoyed a lot. I'd keep most of my cities and build an empire. Some people thought that was cheating since it wasn't really the spirit of the mod.
          It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
