  • Bug - Auto Missionary no longer use airports

I love religion, at least in the game, consequently, I spread my religion to the end of the game. Auto-missionary is an awesome addition in 3.12, but it is slighty buggy in 3.17. THe missionary will no longer go to the airport, stand in line and fly to where he is needed. If he can't drive to the city where he is needed, he just sits around.

That would imply airports may be buggy for everything... presumably missionaries use the same routing code as anything else.

I was wrong, they still use airports to spread to your cities, but not to vassals, or anyone else with a open border.

No, that's wrong also. It worked for a couple cities and then not others. Frankly, I'm going to stop looking for the pattern and just say it's buggy.

IMHO automated anything is buggy, automated workers, missionaries, civs (last one is also known as the AI).

There are several questions here, how does the algorithm for automated Missionaries decide which city to spread to? Then if there is a land connection between the two, the question becomes which way would be faster, move along the RR or airlift. Airlift could take couple of turns (move to city on turn 1, airlift on turn 2, spread religion on turn 3). So airports are not necessarily faster than RR. The how do you get to another continent, might be faster/more efficient to use ships.

Philosophical question: why should a Missionary take the airport airlift turn to spread religion to some god forgotten place, when I need that airport to move my infantry to my city under siedge on the other continent.

Either way, I don't think it is possible to do automated anything without some serious issues sch as above mentioned. Hence, I never automate anything except other civs (I don't do much multilayer and I need to play the game after all ).

I think the question is why is a feature implemented on v3.12 now broken on v3.17.

Eh, never mind few missionaries, my horde of automated workers are the real nuisance, frequent flyers indeed.
