Where to put mod?

I downloaded this tiny mod; to add smilies in the bottom-right corner.
But the readme says that I need to place the files in the CustomAssets folder. I don't have a CustomAssets folder. Do I need to make it myself and if so where do I put it?

ga dan naar C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets

je moet ook volledige admin of gebruikers rechten hebben (!)

neen de folder is daar al

is het je eigen computer ?

kijk , ga naar c de harde schijf , dan naar progama files , dan naar firaxis en voila je bent er

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4

custom assets is een beetje lager


als je het echt niet vind kan ik photo's plaatsen ok , ....

we lossen dit wel op , geen paniek

eindelijk , dat is mooi als je nog vragen hebt stuur dan een mail of een prive mail

in general , its an explanation in dutch on how to guide some one to the folder , thats it snoopy , ...

On Poly we prefer you to stick to English (except in PMs of course), except in very rare cases where someone needs help who does not speak english at all That ensures everyone can participate in the discussion. Thanks!

panag does not speak that language , ...


for the future the posts will be made in the local language and in english at the same time , if needed , ....

aldo it might be good to have forums in dutch , french , german , italian , ....

so if anyone needs help in thos languages , send a mail and you will get help in your own language

I'd vote no against forums in different languages. It's better to have it all in one place where everyone can make use of the answers. But local language and English could work out if someone has trouble with English

Sigh, the mod doesn't work. I searched again for the CustomAssets folder, and it seems it resides in the MyDocuments folder. I placed the mod in there but no changes in the game.
Is it maybe because I installed civ4 on my E: drive and the MyDocuments is on C:?

The first question is whether the mod is for CIV4, Warlords, or BtS?

There are 3 different versions of the game, and depending on what the mod is for depends on whether the mod will show up when you play.

Me, I always play BtS. So, when I install a mod I have to put it in the BtS folder.

Second question is whether the mod is something you want always running, or whether you want to run it by going to the main menu (inside the game) and invoking it that way. This is usually something YOU can decide, either way should work.

If the former (always running), then yeah it goes into CustomAssets. If the latter, then it goes into the MODS folder.

Again: you should have 3 CustomAssets folders and 3 Mods folders... which one you should put it into depends on what version of the game the mod is written for, and on what version you usually play. (Hopefully those 2 are the same!)

Here are the folders for me... yours may be slightly different.

BtS Mods:
C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods

Bts CustomAssets:
C:\Documents and Settings\Sandy\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets

Civ4 (vanilla) Mods:
C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods

Civ4 (vanilla) CustomAssets:
C:\Documents and Settings\Sandy\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CustomAssets

Warlords.... well I'm not going to bother, you're almost certainly not playing the Warlords version.

sure , put all on C , reinstall all

first uninstall ALL , reboot , reinstall and reboot , patches , reboot and then mod , ....

any more Q , send mail

you can lways have ' remote ' assistence from panag
