Actually, I am just happy to get something right when answering a question here. And then there is this interesting discussion thread, too. Good stuff! I use some of the tactics mentioned and can use them even better now. Thanks, everybody!

Eris, I'm another that wants to thank you for pointing that out. This has bothered me for a while, and I tried many different things, with none of them working the way I wanted. Simply moving them to a seperate square never crossed my mind.

      THANK YOU!

I should thank you as well. It did work, I used my Prophet and Spy for my GA and kept my Merchant for Sids!

An interesting and instructive article. I'd noticed that I now only needed one GP for my first GA, but the other changes had passed me by. Using GPs for GAs has certainly become a more attractive proposition. Thanks to Petek for posting this link, to Garth for starting the thread and of course to Dominae for writing the article.

I am playing a game based around this idea - very different from my usual style. I don't usualy go for an SE, and I've never built any of these wonders before.

I have hit a problem with my fifth GA. I need 4 different GPs and my management of GP production is not up to the task. I have also switched to emancipation which makes life more difficult. But I was probably getting into a rut; this approach has given me different things to think about.

After reading this topic, I chose for an early golden age, but was very disapointed that it only lasted for about 10 turns or so. Very short if you're on Marathon. I rather would have used it for a permanent option like a super specialist or a special building.
So how long is a Golden Age anyway? Is it different depending on the difficulty setting or game speed? Is the lenght longer in a certain age?

Golden age at marathon speed is normally 16 turns; 24 turns with the Mausoleum.

At normal speed it's 8 turns or 12 turns with the Mausoleum.

For completeness on Epic it is 10 normally 15 with the Mausoleum.
