So where were we?
I had just begun my massive industrialization later than usual. After each city built a factory I had it add 1 or 2 units to my military ability.
Now we should note, my BFF Lincoln, had somehow managed to come up from behind and snag the Eiffel Tower from me 6 turns ahead. I had looked once Radio completed, and noone had electricity even, yet lincoln managed to complete radio and the Eiffel AND mass communication in a relitively short span. Must have been that philo trait of his combined with the 1 or 2 free techs you usually gain signing an alliance (with Korea). He had also founded Mining Inc.
Once I saw that, I withdrew my own plans to build Hollywood, opting to let him build it for me. This gave me some time for the buildup.
He also managed to build the UN, and we held our first elections. This club didn't even require a hat, as everyone was a member.
Not by no small margin, I win the leadership of this new club.
After the majority of my important buildings are finished, most cities are working on units, so another freebie civic switch is waranted.
Hollywood completes, laying the foundation for the final countdown.
Now I had said I would change my behavior on a previous thread, but with factories coming so late for me, again, I build only one powerplant. One really good one.
Lincoln, at this stage, lacks Industrialization, so no tanks. On our border, Sid's Sushi has managed to push the borders back to his frontier cities. There are 3 of them. He does have flight, so a bomber supported attack would be quite costly. I then opt for the ole standby. Artillery. Each of the 3 cities gets 3 dedicated culture defense busters. I have 2 attack stacks that include plenty of city attack units. My plan, bust those 3 cities first turn, then blitz through towards his capital, my prize.
Having an Alliance with Wang posses a minor problem for Istanbul, but I believe it shouldnt be anything I cannot handle.
3 spies possition themselves ready for the opening of Hostilities.
Only one spy has success in its mission. But I have the fall back of artillery.
In the most jovial of ways, I hint to him, that perhaps a spike would make a very eco-freindly adornment for his decapitated skull.
His Frontier cities are weakly defended, and none pose much of a threat. I have plenty of artillery, so the losses of a few are not threatening to my plans in anyway.
Some of you may be wondering "Why would he invade six turns before robotics?" Yeh I wonder that myself sometimes. Chock that up to a silly GnuB mistake because I've been playing EUIII for too long.
The second turn sees the fall of two more cities protected by some culure.
Im even left with a few reserves to hit his "stack" with.
Now on the Istanbul front. Spending a couple turns bottled up to see whats coming, the troops decide, against my wishes, to head out and look for trouble. Again a silly mistake, and my machine guns follow the attack force. I have but a single Infantry left to defend.
The attack force arives on the border of Korea, and they find plenty of trouble.
Istanbul is lost, the main attack force is near destruction and split up. Things look bleak on that front. Curse them for not obeying orders!
However, back at home, Things run smooth as silk. Frisco falls, and I pass control to Ceasar.
Robotics completes just as The Americans are near destruction. Both too late to add anything to that fight, or help in the defense of Istanbul.
The prize falls with little effort. The blitz is complete.
After the american cities on the east coast had fallen, I loaded that army abourd my fleet. They immediatly were sent off to recapture Istanbul.
Then their might was directed north, towards Korea proper after going back home to pick up the now freed up Blitz units.
The marines take Wonsan, then the remainder unloads adjacent to his capital. It falls and he pleads for peace... He offers a city, Its not one I'd like but he refuses the one I would prefer. I accept his first offer.
I now control a city completely cut off and surrounded my malinese culture. Do I fret? Never. The Empire has its ways.
Prior to the complete wind-down of the war. I switched civics back to Organized religion and began work on more wonders. Important wonders.
The funny hat club, undaunted attempts to undue some of my grand accomplishments. I veto. Their is nothing there puny alliance can do now.
It takes some time, But washington's power is assimilated into The Empire. Nothing can stop us now.
The internet completes and my hackers are able to gain entry into all the worlds technological break-throughs.
And on cue.
