This never happened before. I had Zulu and Greek on my continent. Went after Zulu first because Greeks were friendly but more advanced. Finished off Zulus on the mainland and they had 5 more cities on islands and I didn't have a navy. They asked to vasselize and I obliged. Went after Greeks. Took 3 cities quickly but the territory was mostly greek. One city that I took went back to Greek and so I went after it and when I captured it, it became Zulu!!!! I wanted the continent but Zulu is now in 1 of my cities! Then I beat 4 cities from the Greeks offer peace and they want to trade everything - they are friendly!!?? They offer to vassalize a few turns later and I refuse because I WANT the continent to myself. # turns later 2 other civs declare war on the Greeks and I am thinking, oh no, I am going to have a tough time with my continent. Thing is, I don't see the enemy attacking the Greeks anywhere. Anyone have the Zulu thing happen to them or even the pleased attitude right after a war?

Pleased attitude after war is unusual but certainly do-able. All that war gives long-term is a -3 attitude (you declared war on us) as long as you haven't brought in war allies, razed cities etc. -3 isn't much if you have hte same religion or have the favoured civics, or as it sounds like in this case you had a long history of good relations (and therefore trades etc.). Not hard to be at +10 before the war which will mean you could be at +7 afterwards.
The city flip is also quite feasible if unusual. Presumably this was an area of Zulu/Greek border before you knocked out the Zulu. The Zulu culture would only slowly decay since they were still in game (even if as a vassel). Therefore when you captured it, Zulu could easily be one of the competing cultures in the city. Furthermore, with normal settings it can't flip to the Greeks (since you just captured it from them), so Zulu would be the only option.
Slightly wierd and definitely annoying, but not unheard of.
