  • Best way to uninstall/re-install?

    I've done something to my BtS and it won't load. I'm not sure what. My saves are still intact but I seem to have lost the right "program" to load and run them.

    I also can't find an "uninstall" command to remove BtS. Is there one? What's the best way to take everything off and re-install?

    Control panel -> Add/Remove Programs

    When you say 'won't load' can you run it from scratch? What error do you get?

      Have you tried to simply run the setup/ install file from the DVD? This will maybe give you a reinstall/ repair option

        Thanks for your help.

        Snoopy: the add/remove worked fine. And the re-install was straight ahead. I don't know how to answer your question about a message except to say that my desktop icon had suddenly gone from being the Civ logo to being a plain yellow file folder that took me to a list of programs and asking me to choose which one I would like to run the game with. Obviously the .exe file was missing. I'm not a techie so I didn't waste a lot of time on it; just re-installed.

        Moonwolf: when I re-inserted the DVD several times, I didn't get the install option; I got only "Play/Read me/Exit". It wasn't until I removed all the files (almost: I kept the saves) that the install option appeared.

          If you browse the DVD, you would probably find a setup/ install exe file there Can't tell you excactly where as I'm at work now. But good to hear you worked it out, being without Civ....

            Hmm, sounds like something strange happened to your windows installation. I'd run a few scans to make sure nothing else is odd... your registry probably became corrupted somehow, and that shouldn't happen...

              If I had a penny for every time someone from the IT department said "that shouldn't happen" I'd have a lot of pennies.
