  • Corporation Question 5-23-2008

    I have a small issue:

    I have a Great Engineer, and want to build Mining, Inc.

    I have Coal

    I went to the corporation tab and saw the Mining, Inc. and it allowed me to highlight it.

    In the city Screen, however, it is not allowing me to highlight or select Mining, Inc. or any Corporation.

    I have Coal and am working the tile.

    I have workers coming to connect a Railroad

    Is this the reason?

    I have the prerequisite advances.....

    Any help would be appreciated.

    My question is how to make this happen..i.e. allow me to build this corporation??

    It has been awhile since I got to this stage...

    Thanks in advance!

    Are you running the state property civic?

    Is the GE in the city where you want to found it?

      Thanks rah

      I will check this evening

      So I need the State Property Civic or do not need the State Property Civic

      I wanted to build Mining, Inc. in another city, more easy to defend, but decided to go to a city where the Coal was in the Radiius.

      If I have Coal in my Kingdom, does that count the same as having in a city radius?

      Thanks for the suggestion

        You need to get out of State Property to found a corporation.

        Also it's possible another civ has already founded it.

          STATE property cancels corps, so don't need.

              You don't need coal in your city radius to found the corp just as long as your civ has it. You usually want to found the corp in your wall street city since the corp HQ generated $ for every city that you spread it to.

                If you don't have Bhruic's Unofficial Patch installed, I don't think you can be running the Mercantilism civic either.

                  You need:
                  * Tech: Corporation
                  * Tech: Railroad
                  * GP: Great Engineer
                  * Not Built: Mining, Inc
                  * Not In State Property

                  You should build it in your Wall Street city, or if not yet built in a city that generates lots of wealth that you will eventually build Wall Street in. Do NOT build it in a city because of its production; you will *spread* it (like religion!) to those cities. If you build it initially in a city like that (found it) you will lose a lot of money

                  You build it by selecting your Great Engineer, and he will have a building icon in his action bar just like the 'complete a building' icon or the 'settle great person' icon.

                        Uhhhh...
                        Origin: shortened form of "back 40 acres." A land owner or farmer who has developed part of their property (e.g. planted crops or use the land for cattle grazing) may refer to their undeveloped land as the "back X," where X is some number of acres. "40" has become the popular number to cite when using this expression.
                        I don't think he was talking about golf

                              Back 40 was a term I learned growing up farming

                              The back 40 was the back 40 acres we had to pick potatos or rake blueberries depending upon the crop

                              EDIT: My apologies Ming, didnt concentrate enuff, and thanks for that explanation
