One of the bigest understatements.
It actually appears like there's more NON spirtual civs with Mystism now than there are spirtual ones with the revised leader traights and the new leaders.

Also note that Slave Revolt event depends upon weather or not you are in Slavery not weather or not you've pop rushed which has negated the pre BTS take Slavery as a free civic change as an insurance tactic. Now you only want to be in Slavery when you are periocaly whippping.

Slavery is still powerful; however, events can occur (slave revolts and such) that weaken it so long as you're in slavery. Also, some of the other civics in that run were strengthened (caste system, at least).1st C3DG Term 7 Science Advisor 1st C3DG Term 8 Domestic Minister

Also, there are quite a few new map types, mostly advanced.
Vassalge started in Warlords and was greatly expanded in BTS. (Colonization mainteanance if you have too many cities in the same landmass not on the same landmass as your palace) And the ability to granting independence to a landmass with 2+ cities your palace isn't on.
New Advanced Options : Choose Religions, No Tech Brokering (e.g. if you sell tech to B they can't resell it to C), Unrestricted Leaders
New to BTS: Spy Screen & spy specalist, Great Spy, several wonders & buildings along with a spy slider impact spying.
Also new to BTS: 7 Corporations; but some compete with each other.
And the AP, more UN options, and the veto resolution option.Last edited by joncnunn; May 9, 2008, 19:20.1st C3DG Term 7 Science Advisor 1st C3DG Term 8 Domestic Minister

this vassalage thing is interesting.
my friend (america) and 2 AIs (Inca, china) were ganging up on germany. I figured I'd join my Confucian religious buddies and declared war on germany as well. Well I guess that was too much for germany since that very turn, Germany became Korea's vassal (another AI civ that shares hinduism state rel with germany). I figured we could wipe germany easily, but it has complicated the matter alot.... having germany assimilated to one of the largest AI.
anyways some Qs on how vassalage/colony works:
-colonies can only be established in another continent? what if I want to make a colony on continent where my capitol is? is that possible?
-Can I create a colony of 2 cities and add more cities as I settle/conquer more in that same continent?
-It seems that I can open diplomatic talks with vassal states. Can I make deals with vassals states for tech/resource etc? Or do I have to go thru the parent civ to negotiate for that?
-If above answer is yes, how can I prevent my vassal/colony to trade away techs/resource i give?:-p

You either have to "gift" them a city or "liberate" a city to them, if either option is available.
Bear in mind that as a vassal becomes larger it can break away from the master civ.

Yes. You can't, other than by selecting "no tech brokering/trading" at the game start.I'm consitently stupid- Japher
I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Protective isn't nearly as "useless to humans" as it's made out to be.
1. It allows humans to archer-rush. (free Drill I + Drill II / field from baracks)
This is especally the case for Sitting Bull whose monument also enough XP to archer units to effectively turn the Archer into a second UU.
2. Protective also makes Crossbows a better unit choice. Extra Drill now and vetran Rifles later.
3. It also makes Muskets a better early choice as well. (Melee units promoted into Gunpowder do NOT get drill).1st C3DG Term 7 Science Advisor 1st C3DG Term 8 Domestic Minister

so i tried a non spi civ and i liked how if i plan my GA nicely i can avoid anarchy, but seems like its not completely unavoidable.
that nad i miss being able to switch civics on a whim. build infrastrucre, switch civic, build army, switch... hehe... But i guess i can do without spi....
few more Qs:
- The UBS: does the UBs get affected by trait bonus? for example if u get industriou sleader as Malis, u get mint instead of forge. So would the forge build bonus od ind trait still apply to mints?
- Whats your preferred warmongering trait combo? Agg/Prot would make some nice gundpowder units no? or what about agg/charis? etc?
- and builder trait? I like financial, I used to go Mali for spi/fin alot. Now I'd like to replace spi trait with somethign else... Fin/Ind maybe?:-p
