  • Altering the Starting Year

Is there a way you can set the starting year back another 2000 years (maybe 6000 B.C.)? And is there way to change the research and culture increasements from 5% to 4%? I don't know where to do this on.

The first part of what you ask, Eomer, should definitely be moddable; the second part, probably moddable. I'm not a modder so I can't say with any certainty.

Do you want a longer game than Marathon?

Are you talking about the research and culture sliders? If you are then you obviously can, since they normal go in 10% increments. And you already have 5% increments.

        Are you using mods?

        ACK!

It's trivial to increase the number of turns (without altering the gameplay by changing speeds). Altering the actual year itself I am not sure about, but the actual year is irrelevant to the game (it doesn't affect ANYTHING in the game, except the number shown on the screen.)

The latter, I'd have the same question as tuberski

I know there's some way to do it (but not how) based on that Ice Age scenario that game with vanilla.

Agree with Snoopy on the first question. As to the second, I thought prelynmax might be referring to reducing the increase in the incremental cost for each step in the research chain. However, I am not clear how that would apply to relative culture costs. Do we buy or gain something culturally that costs more for each increment, like research costs or great persons costs?
