Screenshots every save?

I made a screenshot in my game yesterday for the first time. When I went in to retrieve it (to send it to my son) I found there were a whole bunch of them. The game appears to make regular screenshots, but when? Each time I save it?

I guess so. I went back and looked at them again and they're all repeats of the same thing. Duh.
