  • Vassalising the Vassalisers

I have a question - am currently working on a domination win (standard map size, large and small continents, prince diff). I have reduced 1 AI to 3rd world nation status, and vassalised 2 others. (By the way, if vassalised isn't copyrighted, I am officially doing it now ) I am currently at war with the English, and halfway thru the war they liberated an overseas continent, granting freedom to the Americans. My question is this - are the English now permanently immune to capitulation? Is it even possible to strip a vassal of that condition if it was granted via overseas liberation? And its not possible to vassalise a nation w/ a vassal is it? Any ideas?

You can vassalize a civ with a vassal. When you do so, their vassal is set free.

In fact, if you hit a civ hard enough, their vassal(s) may break free before they capitulate.

Cool good to know - ol Churchill is being rather stubborn, I check every turn but he's just not willing to bow before the (obviously) mighty power of Carthage. I also wasnt sure wether or not thr rules were different when you 'create' a nation/vassal via liberating overseas colonies.

Hey, sorry for thread-jacking but since we're on the subject of vassals and overseas colonies, can we have more than one overseas colony? In my last game, I liberated 5 Incan cities (I destroyed the Incans before that) to become Carthage. Later on when I invaded their neighbour, Babylon, the cities I liberated fell to Carthaginian control. I don't know if that means you can only have one civilization be your overseas colony vassal or if it's because those cities were on the same continent (never mind in the next region).

Your Mama! You suck man, but your Mama's sweet! You suck, but your Mama, ohhh... Uh-huh, your Mama! Far out man, you do suck, but not as good as your Mama! So what's it gonna be? Because they are on the same continent. Wouldnt make sense to conquer several more cities then 'liberate' them to a 3rd civ, for example Portuguese.

You do want to be playing with Bhuric's patch though.
With Burhic's patch if the master civ capitulates to you, you'll stay at war with their ex-vassal. (Chances are they'll capitulate in turn almost immedately)
Pre-Bhuric's patch the ex-vassals got a free peace treaty and so you had to wait 10 turns and then redeclare war and wait for them to talk to force them to capitulate.

Except when you've wiped out a huge continent and you know your colony can't support all the extra cities - let alone the fact that they'll be bigger than you eventually.

It would be good to be able to choose which of your colonies to assign cities to also, the AI can make some poor choices especially when the cities are on islands.

I hate how the AI will somehow sync liberated colonies with any destroyed civs, so lets say I wipe out the Azteces, then, on the FAR SIDE OF THE PLANET someone liberates the Americans... now my Aztec population in the cities unhappiness is tied into the Americans when we wage war... what gives with that?

It's even worse when cities you started start yearning to rejoin the motherland
