  • Constant desyncing in multiplayer game with 1 person.

I know someone through the wonders of the internet with whom i play civ4bts online regulairly.

However we constantly get desync'd. So we have to reconnect quite often. Sometimes every turn even.

So i wonder what issues have been known to cause this.

Personally im just playing the latest version of bts. I forgot his exact details... but i think its the latest version itself. Dont know if he owns the game legally like i do though.

Are you playing with random events turned off.

Depending on who i'm playing with, sometimes it's a big problem getting sync errors. With others it may cause a problem once or twice a game.

Another time where you get a sync error is when golden ages are triggered. But at least this one goes away in a few seconds 99% of the time.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Definitely turn random events off, there is a common sync error that occurs as a result of random events being turned on.

It's possible to get the random events in properly, but it requires a particular order of installation. It's somehow related to the 2.13 patch overwriting something in Warlords. CyberShy I think knows the specific order - you might try PMing him.

It required all of us to install a total clean copy of civ4 and BtS, and then patch it to 3.13.
Thus first deinstall everything, then install it all again. We didn't install Warlords. (it's included in BtS anyway).

In fact: yes, random events are really cool in MP.
Unless you play FFA mindless war till all crumble games

Epic MP games that last several sessions are much better with events.

Random strategy game = oxymoron. Some people might find them fun, but they aren't good for the game.

I play with a friend of mine via direct IP connection, and we never had problems, even with random events. Try this

That means you installed in the right order DirectIP doesn't help any with the problem here, unfortunately.

Does that problem alwas occur if you install the game in an other order then CiV-WL-BtS ?

                            1. "our" order excludes warlords!!!
                            2. Maybe it has more to do with the 'clean' install then with a proper order. A clean install, without installing pre 3.13 bts patches and only 3.13 is most probably the key to succes.
